After completing his master's degree at the Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal with René Gosselin, Yannick Chênevert obtained a prize with great distinction in 1999. In addition to being a professor at the University of Montreal, he is also a double bass teacher at the Cégep de SaintLaurent.

Equally at ease in classical and modern music, this versatile musician is a supernumerary in the main ensembles and orchestras of the greater Montreal area, notably the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre Métropolitain and Les Violons du Roy. He has been a member of the Nouvel Ensemble Moderne since January 2000 and more recently, a member of the string ensemble I Musici since April 2012.
