Josée Aidans graduated with great distinction from the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal where she studied violin with Raymond Dessaints and Johanne Arel and chamber music with Robert Verebes and Denis Brott.
During her years of training, she won numerous prizes as a soloist and chamber musician in various competitions such as the Canadian Music Competition and the CBC Young Artists Competition. She has been concertmaster of the Conservatory's string and symphony orchestras on several occasions, and has also been a soloist with these ensembles on many occasions.
In 1995, while still a student, she joined the Ensemble Amati, a professional chamber orchestra directed by Raymond Dessaints, and in 1998 became assistant concertmaster, contractor and music librarian, positions she held until 2009.
Inspired by the passion of her violin teachers, she began teaching at an early age. Already being assistant to Johanne Arel for several years, she joined, in 2000, the teaching staff of the Camp musical des Laurentides. She also served as marketing coordinator and assistant to the director. She was appointed assistant director in 2017.
In addition to her teaching activities, Josée Aidans has been an active freelance violinist for over 25 years. She has participated in several popular music shows with renowned artists. She has accompanied many Quebec artists on stage and on recordings, including Claude Dubois, Ginette Reno, Sylvain Cossette, Diane Dufresne, Marie Denise Pelletier and Céline Dion. She has also played in the orchestras of many other international stars such as Barbra Streisand, Diana Ross, Diana Krall, Rod Stewart, Luciano Pavarotti and Josh Groban. She has made numerous recordings for radio and television.
In 2013, the famous jazz pianist Oliver Jones invited her to record an album with him entitled "Just for my Lady". This critically acclaimed album received the Félix award in the "Jazz Creation" category at the 2013 Adisq gala.
Josée Aidans has taught violin at the Conservatories of Val-d'Or and Montreal and has been a professor at the Conservatoire of Trois-Rivières since 2011. Her energy, patience and determination are assets to succeed in her mission, that of transmitting her art and her love of music to new generations of passionate musicians.
