Julie Deschênes holds a Bachelor's degree in violin performance from the Université de Montréal and completed a Bachelor's degree in music education at the Université du Québec à Montréal to obtain her teaching certificate.

For the past 28 years, she has been teaching in the Arts-Études program at Joseph-François-Perrault High School of the Centre de services scolaires de Montréal and founded the Option and Concentration strings program. She conducts the Junior String Orchestra and is also responsible for the string section of the Joseph-François-Perrault Intermediate Symphony Orchestra.

Julie Deschênes has devoted her career to teaching, passing on her passion for music and is known for her contribution to the training of many generations of young musicians.
