Nicolas earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Montreal under the guidance of David Martin, as well as a master’s degree and a postgraduate degree from the Montreal Conservatory of Music under Patrice Richer.
In 2024, he was named second trombone with the Orchestre Symphonique de l’Estuaire. An active session musician on the Montreal scene, he can be heard performing with, among others, the Orchestre Métropolitain, and the symphony orchestras of Laval, Drummondville, Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, Sherbrooke, Longueuil, and Ottawa. In addition to his contributions to the symphonic world, he can also be found on stage with various ensembles such as the Horizon Brass Ensemble, the klezmer group Oktopus, and at corporate events with groups including the Montreal Backbeat Showband.
Nicolas teaches classical trombone at the Joseph-François-Perrault School and jazz trombone at Collège Jean-Eudes.
