Jean-François Gagné is a versatile musician who divides his activities between violin, viola, singing, teaching, and musical arranging. He graduated with highest distinction from the Conservatoire de musique de Québec under the direction of violist François Paradis in 2004, and he also holds a degree from Université Laval, where he studied violin with György Terebesi and viola with Chantal Masson-Bourque. During these formative years, he also worked on vocal technique with soprano Marie-Andrée Paré.

During his formative years, he also pursued several advanced training courses in Canada and Europe, which allowed him to refine his craft under renowned artists such as Roberto Diaz, Bruno Giuranna, and Gérard Lesne. These experiences also gave him the opportunity to perform with the Schleswig-Holstein Orchestra in Germany and to collaborate with the Goldberg Wien Quartet in Stuttgart.

Jean-François Gagné has written numerous arrangements for orchestra, choir, and small ensembles that, over the years, have been performed in concert, on recordings, and in theatrical productions. An experienced educator, he currently teaches viola, violin, and chamber music at the Conservatoire de musique de Trois-Rivières.
