David Jomphe began his oboe studies at the age of 12. In 1996, he entered the Conservatoire de Musique du Québec in Montreal in the class of Mr. Bernard Jean. After completing his competition in 2003, he continued his studies at the University of Montreal. He obtained a master's degree in 2005 under the tutelage of Mrs. Lise Beauchamp. He also studied English horn with Mr. Pierre-Vincent Plante.
As an orchestral musician, David Jomphe has performed with the Orchester Métropolitain du Grand Montréal, the Orchester des Grands Ballets Canadiens, the Orchester Symphonique de Laval, the Orchester Symphonique de Sherbrooke, the Violons du Roy, the McGill Chamber Orchestra, Orchester Symphonique de Trois-Rivières, Orchester Symphonique de Longueuil and many other ensembles.
In addition to his talents as an interpreter, he was an oboe teacher at CEGEP Marie-Victorin from 2005 to 2009. He also has a diploma in counterpoint from the Conservatoire de Musique du Québec.
