Elsa Vadnais-Malo began her flute training at Joseph-François-Perrault high school in music concentration. At the age of 14, she was accepted at the Montreal Conservatory of Music in Carolyn Christie's class. She then continued her studies at the Cégep de Saint-Laurent in flute interpretation under the direction of Diane Caplette. Elsa obtained a Bachelor's degree in performance at the University of Montreal with Denis Bluteau in 2004 and then studied with Timothy Hutchins at McGill University. Elsa obtained her master's degree from the University of Montreal under the supervision of Lise Daoust in the year 2007.
Elsa participates in training courses. During the summer of 2002 and 2005, she received a scholarship for the Académie du Domaine Forget internship. She also obtained an internship scholarship for the summer 2004 tour of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Canada with which she toured across Canada. In the summer of 2007 she graduated from the Gubbio Festival in Italy where she followed a course with flautist Andrea Oliva.
She plays for several master classes including those of Emmanuel Pahud, William Bennett, Mathieu Dufour and Marina Piccinnini. In the summer of 2006, she was received in private lessons in Paris at the Regional Conservatory by flautist Vincent Lucas.
In 2006, she was the recipient of the Espace Musique Young Artists competition on Radio-Canada radio.
An active musician, Elsa is a member of ensembles of all kinds, as much chamber music formations as symphony orchestras or concert bands. She has worked with the Orchestre Symphonique des jeunes de Montréal (2000-2003), the Orchestre de l'Université de Montréal (2002-2006), the National Youth Orchestra of Canada (summer 2004) and the Ensemble of Contemporary Music of McGill with which she gave a concert broadcast around the world as part of the MNM festival in the spring of 2005.
A passionate musician, Elsa Vadnais-Malo has pursued her career as a principal flute teacher for several years at Collège Notre-Dame and as a performer in various projects. Herself a former student of Camp des Laurentides, Elsa joins the team of camp teachers to give students this passion for music that she herself received several years ago...
